Weston-super-Mare have continued their strong start to the National League South season by securing a second successive victory, defeating Hampton & Richmond 3-0 at home.
The Seagulls took an early lead when Liam Sercombe skilfully threaded a pass through to Ollie Hulbert in the fifth minute, who calmly finished past the goalkeeper, Pat Nash.
Weston comfortably maintained their advantage throughout the match, ultimately securing victory with two late goals. In the 81st minute, a precise free-kick delivered by Luke Coulson was met with a powerful header from Scot Bennett, doubling the lead. Then, deep into stoppage time at seven minutes, Coulson capped off the win with an impressive 25-yard free-kick that found the net.

With two wins from their opening two fixtures, Weston-super-Mare currently sit atop the National League South table. The team will look to maintain their momentum when they face Torquay United tomorrow evening. Torquay have accumulated four points from their initial two matches.
Separately, in another National League South clash, Bath City fought valiantly despite a challenging game where Villa held much of the possession. Bath threatened early on, with Scott Wilson’s shot in the 27th minute saved by Tyla Dickinson, only for Villa to take the lead six minutes later through Chamberlain’s finish, assisted by Harry Parsons.
Bath’s response was resilient; Billy Nutbeam came close with a cross in the 37th minute, and just before half-time, Toure Williams’ ambitious 20-yard effort was superbly saved by Harvey Wiles-Richards.
The second half saw Bath start strongly but eventually come under sustained pressure. Haydon Vaughan’s 25-yard shot deflected onto the post in the 56th minute, while Josh Casey’s 67th-minute effort narrowly missed. Despite this, Bath defended well, with key interventions such as Jack Batten blocking a shot from Michael Harding on the line.
Bath also looked to create chances, with Sev Streczen and Enzio Boldewijn both attempting goalbound efforts, though to no avail. Kieran Parselle also missed a significant chance, firing over the bar as Bath sought to close the gap.
The game highlighted Villa’s control of possession, but Bath’s defensive resilience kept the scoreline respectable.
