Weston-super-Mare Pre-school Celebrated for Excellence in Recent Ofsted Inspection

Memorable Moments and Pre-school, a nursery in Weston-super-Mare catering to children aged one to four, has received high acclaim in a recent Ofsted inspection. The report highlights the setting as a place where every child is supported to thrive.

Inspectors commended the pre-school’s ambitious and well-structured curriculum, delivered within an inclusive and nurturing environment. They noted that the children’s happiness, wellbeing and development are central to the staff’s approach. Children are described as arriving eager and excited for their day, warmly welcomed by caring and dedicated staff members.

The report detailed how babies respond with delight to loving interactions such as peekaboo games, cuddles and shared reading, while older children confidently engage staff in their play. Children were observed enjoying conversations about their experiences and upcoming plans, reflecting a strong sense of feeling safe, valued and understood.

Furthermore, the inspection praised the children’s learning progress, citing their imaginative play as a key opportunity to develop language and social skills. Children use a broad vocabulary during role-play, discuss healthy eating, accurately count, solve simple maths problems, and recall previous lessons about months and weather changes. These experiences contribute to building their confidence, resilience and readiness for school.

Behaviour among the children was also commended. They consistently demonstrated kindness, respect and consideration towards others. Staff maintain high expectations and clear routines, which children confidently follow, often independently. The children take pride in responsibilities such as tidying up and practising good manners naturally during daily activities.

Leadership was identified as a particular strength of Memorable Moments. The leaders place children at the core of every decision and have deep understanding of the children, their families and the local community. They create an inclusive atmosphere where every child feels supported and valued. Effective action is taken swiftly to address any learning barriers to ensure progress for all children.

Rachel Hiscocks, owner and manager of the nursery, expressed her delight: “I am absolutely thrilled with our recent Ofsted report and incredibly proud of what our nursery has achieved. This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team, who continually strive to provide the very best care, learning and experiences for the children. We are extremely proud of our wonderful children, our amazing team, and the ongoing support from our families, past and present.”

Ofsted’s updated inspection framework no longer uses single-word judgements for settings. Instead, they assess a range of categories including achievement, behaviour and attitudes, welfare and wellbeing, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, and leadership and governance. Each is rated as ‘exceptional’, ‘strong standard’, ‘expected standard’, ‘needs attention’, or requiring ‘urgent improvement’. Memorable Moments achieved a “strong standard” rating across all these areas, reflecting its consistent quality and commitment to children’s development.
