Weston-super-Mare started their National League South season on a high note with an impressive 3-0 home win against Chesham United.
The Seagulls, who were defeated in the play-offs last season, quickly took control of the match. Dan Martin delivered a precise cross from the left flank, which Jacob Jagger-Cane expertly headed home from six yards, putting Weston ahead early on.
Weston’s goalkeeper Max Harris was solid throughout, making crucial saves, including stopping a low shot from Jayden Bennetts and deflecting a glancing header from Alfie Williams to maintain the clean sheet.

In the second half, Harris launched a long clearance that Louis Britton flicked on, creating the opportunity for Louie Derrick, on loan from Bristol City, to strike past Chesham’s goalkeeper Ben Goode and extend the lead.
Despite Chesham’s efforts to mount a comeback, Weston sealed the victory in the dying moments of the game. Britton capitalised on a lofted pass from Derrick to slot home the third goal, confirming a strong start to the season for the Seagulls.
In a separate match, Sholing faced Bath City. Sholing began strongly, with goalkeeper Harvey Wiles-Richards making an early save from Olly Pendlebury. However, two minutes later, Michael Folivi tapped in Tommy Willard’s low cross to give Sholing the lead. Bath found their rhythm as the first half progressed, culminating in an equaliser at 29 minutes when Donovan Wilson crossed for Scott Wilson to score.
Donovan Wilson was substituted after this goal, replaced by Reuben Reid. The remainder of the first half was evenly contested, with notable saves from Sholing’s Jack Turner and Wiles-Richards.
In the second half, Bath gained more control but struggled to convert pressure into clear chances. Harry Taylor had a significant opportunity but fired over the bar from close range after Reece Wylie’s perfect pull-back.
With four minutes remaining, Bath struck a decisive blow. Reid won possession and flicked the ball to Parsons, who unleashed a dipping 20-yard shot over Turner, securing a 2-1 lead. Bath held this advantage until the final whistle, marking a successful Southern League return after two decades.
