Weston-super-Mare Carnival 2025: New Procession Route, Parking, and Road Closures Announced

Weston-super-Mare is gearing up for its much-anticipated Carnival on Friday, November 7, 2025, with exciting changes set to improve safety, accessibility, and crowd enjoyment. This year, the iconic illuminated procession will follow a new route designed to address growing logistical challenges and enhance the overall experience for participants and spectators alike.

Following extensive consultations with emergency services, local authorities, and community groups, organizers have reimagined the parade’s pathway to replace the traditional Marine Parade dispersal, which is unavailable this year. This change responds to rising costs associated with road closures, security, and Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) measures, while also improving crowd control and avoiding delays caused by overcrowding.

The revised route extends the parade by approximately 600 meters, passing more local businesses and offering ample space for viewers to enjoy the spectacle comfortably. The procession will commence at 7 PM, starting from the Pelican Crossing next to the main Tesco Car Park on Locking Road. From there, the parade moves through the Bus Hub adjacent to Tesco, passes the Plaza Cinema briefly on Walliscote Road, then turns right down Oxford Street toward the seafront.

Continuing along Beach Road, the procession skirts past Pirate Golf and the first small Beach Lawn before circling around to Marine Parade. It then turns right by the Cabot Hotel, moves through Knightstone Road near the college, and proceeds along South Parade, Waterloo Street, and the Boulevard. The route concludes at the Pelican Crossing on Locking Road, adjacent to the Tesco Car Park.

Organizers emphasize that the new route will exclude performances before or after designated start points in specific “RED” zones marked on the parade map, ensuring smooth passage for floats and walkers. The adjusted logistics also allow a swift exit for the tableaux, with clear roads at Station Road and Carlton Street enabling participants to head to North Petherton for the following day’s carnival.

Carnival attendees can enjoy a vibrant mix of illuminated floats, marching bands, fancy dress walkers, and entertainers parading through the town. Spectators are encouraged to support the event generously through donation buckets along the route or online contributions.

Parking arrangements have also been updated. VIP parking is available at the Beach Lawns (postcode BS23 1AT) from 2 PM on the day, at a cost of £10 per car. Visitors are advised to follow Coach Route Parking signage toward the seafront to reach this area. Additionally, on-street parking is encouraged where possible, along with using Council-run car parks—though exiting these may not be possible until the carnival concludes.

For convenient access, visitors can park at Worle or Milton stations and take a short transit to Weston Station. Limited disabled parking spaces will be available near the route on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is recommended.

With these thoughtful updates, the Weston-super-Mare Carnival 2025 promises to be a safe, vibrant, and memorable celebration for the whole community.
