Walcot Group’s ‘Pop-up’ Restaurant Transforms Former Abattoir in Bath

The Walcot Group has been given the green light to open a new “pop-up” restaurant at a former abattoir in Bath. The location, situated on Cheltenham Street in Westmoreland, was once an abattoir but has since been repurposed into a production kitchen for the owner’s local restaurants. The group plans to utilize the space, now dubbed ‘Cheltenham Yard,’ by offering a licensed ‘pop-up restaurant’ equipped with a pizza oven, grill, and bar.

Despite objections from some local residents, including concerns about noise and its impact on the predominantly residential area, the licensing sub-committee of Bath and North East Somerset Council approved the application for the alcohol license. The Walcot Group’s representative emphasized that the planned establishment is meant to be a restaurant with table service, not a pub, nightclub, or late-night spot.

The decision to grant the license was influenced by the positive impact the Walcot Group has had on the communities they serve, as demonstrated by their successful transformation of the old Club XL premises on Walcot Street into a vibrant restaurant and venue.
