Plans to build up to 30 new homes in a village near Trowbridge are set to be reviewed this week. The Western Area Planning Committee at Wiltshire Council will meet on Wednesday, July 9, to vote on a proposal for housing development on land west of Wesley Lane at Lamberts Marsh, Southwick.
The application, submitted by Southwick Village Developments Ltd, was called in by divisional ward councillor Chris Brautigam (Southwick, Reform UK), meaning that the decision will be made by councillors rather than planning officers.
Although the site lies outside the formal settlement boundary of Southwick, it is designated for housing in the Southwick Neighbourhood Development Plan 2018-2036. The land under consideration forms part of a larger parcel owned by the developer.

The proposal includes the construction of new estate roads and footpaths, alongside 30 houses. Of these, nine will be locally discounted First Homes aimed at increasing affordable housing options in the area.
Southwick Parish Council has expressed support for the development, and key consultees such as the Highways Authority and Drainage Authority have raised no objections.
The council has received approximately 100 representations, many from duplicate addresses, with the majority opposing the project.
The planned homes will feature a mix of traditional two-storey designs and contemporary three-storey dwellings, where the third floor is integrated within the roof space.
The application has been recommended for approval.
