Village Besieged by Abandoned Evri Parcels Amid Courier Controversy

Residents of Bathford, a quiet village in Somerset just three miles from Bath, have found themselves frustrated by a recurring issue involving abandoned parcels. For the past week, locals report that an Evri courier has repeatedly left stacks of undelivered packages scattered throughout the village—on sidewalks, in hedges, and on doorsteps.

The “parcel-dumping saga,” as described by residents, has seen piles of up to ten packages left behind daily. Tom Frost, a 28-year-old sales manager from the village, expressed his astonishment: “They’re not even attempting proper delivery. Parcels are just being dumped on pavements or tossed into garden hedges. One person found eight packages hidden in a hedge at the back of their home.”

Locals are understandably upset and have voiced widespread disapproval. Social media platforms became a hub for frustrated residents sharing their experiences, organizing parcel pickups, and criticizing the courier’s handling of their hard-earned property. One resident lamented, “There’s no respect for our money or privacy when our parcels are just thrown on the ground.”

In response to the outcry, Evri confirmed it has terminated the contract with the driver responsible, who was employed through a third-party provider. An Evri spokesperson stated: “Most of our couriers maintain an excellent reputation, with a 4.6-star rating this year. We apologize to the few residents affected in Bathford and are committed to assisting anyone with parcel concerns through our customer service team.”

While this incident has disrupted the tranquility of the Somerset village, the swift action taken by Evri signals a commitment to restoring trust and ensuring that such parcel mishandling does not happen again.
