Victoria Art Gallery Unveils Restored Upper Gallery and New Exhibitions

After extensive restoration work, Bath’s Victoria Art Gallery is reopening its Upper Gallery to the public, along with a new learning studio and a captivating exhibition on printmaking. The Grade II*-listed gallery has preserved its historic fabric and artworks while preparing to reveal never-before-seen pieces to its visitors.

The newly established learning and engagement studio, named The Modelling Room, is dedicated to hosting workshops and classes for all ages, catering to schools and community groups. This valuable addition was made possible with the support of the Friends of the Victoria Art Gallery and an individual donor.

An enticing exhibition titled “First Impressions: Printers’ Proofs of Works by Great 20th Century Artists” is set to open on Thursday, May 2 and will run until Sunday, July 6. Showcasing rare proofs by renowned artists such as Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach, and Bridget Riley, this exhibition grants visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the intricate process of printmaking.
