This afternoon, Friday, October 31, emergency services responded to a serious accident in West Bagborough, near Taunton, where a vehicle left the road and became submerged in a water-filled ditch. Multiple agencies, including the ambulance service, police, and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue, were alerted to the incident.
At 3:27 pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue received a call from the ambulance service reporting that several people were inside the vehicle. Fire crews from Taunton, Bridgwater, and Wellington were dispatched, including two fire engines, a heavy rescue unit, and a water safety team.
Upon arrival, firefighters found one person trapped inside the submerged vehicle while three others had already escaped and were being treated by paramedics. Using specialized cutting equipment, the rescue teams successfully freed the trapped occupant.

Following the rescue, responsibility for the scene was handed over to police and ambulance personnel. A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue confirmed the swift and coordinated response ensured the trapped individual was safely released.
