Have you ever wanted to learn more about individuals who lost their lives during World War II? Or perhaps uncover the stories of those from your own family or local area?

Our innovative VE Day widget allows you to do just that.

This powerful tool contains records of over 600,000 men, women, and children from Britain and the Commonwealth who died in the deadliest conflict in history.

Using the widget is simple: enter as many or as few details as you wish into the search fields, then click ‘search.’

For instance, you can look up everyone with the surname “Smith.” Narrow your search by adding a first name or initial, such as “John” or “J.” You can also focus on a specific town or city by entering its name to find casualties from that location.

After pressing ‘search,’ all matching records will appear.

Each record provides detailed information about the individual, including their regiment, age, rank, and final resting place.

This invaluable data comes courtesy of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), which has digitized original records meticulously gathered during and after the war. For the first time, these comprehensive records are available online, making it easier than ever to remember and honor those who sacrificed so much.
