Van Driver Dies in Serious A358 Crash Near Taunton

A tragic accident on the A358 between Ilminster and Taunton claimed the life of a van driver on Sunday, June 14. The crash, involving two vehicles, prompted an immediate emergency response including the landing of an air ambulance at the scene.

The A358 was closed to traffic shortly after 10 a.m. between Southfields Roundabout and Rapps, with additional closures at the Broadway Street and Cad Road junctions in Ilton. Police confirmed the road closures would last several hours due to investigation work.

Somerset police released a statement confirming that the van driver died at the scene. “Sadly, a man who was driving the van died at the scene,” a spokesperson said. “His family has been informed and is being supported by a specially-trained officer. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.”
