Unknown Vehicles Sought After Fatal Wiltshire Pedestrian Collision

An elderly woman in her 80s tragically lost her life in a collision involving multiple vehicles on the A361 Caen Hill near Mayenne Place in Devizes, Wiltshire. The incident occurred at approximately 6:13 pm on Friday, November 14. Despite emergency response efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and her family has been informed.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that while one vehicle involved in the collision stopped at the scene, several others are believed to have fled. Officers are urgently appealing for these drivers to come forward, as they may be unaware they struck a pedestrian.

The road was temporarily closed during the ongoing investigation but is expected to reopen soon. Sergeant James Barrett of the roads policing unit expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and emphasized the importance of getting information from any witnesses.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was driving along Caen Hill at the time and may have noticed or struck something,” Sergeant Barrett said. “Dash cam footage from the area during the time of the collision could prove crucial in helping us understand what happened.”
