Swimmers representing the University of Bath concluded the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games with an impressive haul of four medals. The highlight came on the final night at the Tollcross International Centre, where Jacob Peters played a pivotal role in securing a silver medal for Team England in the men’s 4x100m medley relay.
Peters, a member of the Aquatics GB Bath Performance Centre, delivered a strong 52.64 split on the butterfly leg during the morning heats, helping England qualify for the final. The English team ultimately finished second to Australia in the last final of the week, earning Peters his third consecutive Commonwealth Games medley relay medal. In addition to this, Peters also competed individually in the 50m butterfly, placing sixth with a time of 23.46 during a demanding evening schedule.
Computer Science student Jack Skerry narrowly missed out on a podium finish twice this week, finishing fourth in both the 100m backstroke (53.43) and the 50m backstroke finals. His fellow University of Bath teammates, Matthew Ward and Cam Brooker, also delivered strong performances in the 100m backstroke, finishing sixth and seventh respectively with times of 53.62 and 53.73.

Cam Brooker previously earned two silver medals as part of Team England’s 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays. Meanwhile, Bill Whiteley Sporting Scholar Matthew Ward contributed to Team Scotland’s success by leading off their mixed 4x100m medley relay, which secured bronze. Ward also competed in Scotland’s men’s medley final, where the team finished just outside medal positions.
In netball, Trendell Sporting Scholar Jayda Pechova alongside Bath alumna Imogen Allison helped England achieve a commanding 94-32 victory over Tonga during the penultimate round of pool matches. England now prepare to face South Africa in a crucial Pool A encounter on Thursday at 9pm, with semi-final qualification at stake.
University of Bath players Poppy Tydeman and Lowri Windsor faced tough opposition against the reigning world champions as Wales fought valiently but fell 65-37 to New Zealand. The Welsh team will complete their Pool B campaign against Jamaica on Thursday at 7pm.
