The University of Bath has secured its position as the eighth best university in the UK and the top institution in the South West, according to the latest Complete University Guide. This prestigious ranking, which assesses 130 universities nationwide, reaffirms Bath’s consistent place in the top 10 for the sixth consecutive year.
Professor Phil Taylor, president and vice-chancellor of the University of Bath, expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “Being ranked eighth in the UK by the Complete University Guide is a fantastic endorsement of the strength and momentum we’re building here at Bath. It reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering outstanding education, exceptional student experiences, and groundbreaking research.”
Highlighting the university’s strong career outcomes, Bath ranked sixth for graduate prospects—a clear indicator of how a degree from Bath continues to open doors for its alumni. The university also excelled in subject rankings, with civil engineering, psychology, and architecture programs all placing fourth nationally. Additionally, courses in biological sciences, French, and engineering featured in the top ten.

Elsewhere in the South West, the University of Exeter improved to 11th place, rising three spots and maintaining its status in the top 10% of UK universities. The University of Bristol followed closely at 15th, marking a one-place increase. Bath’s other local institution, Bath Spa University, also advanced significantly, moving up 12 places from 104th last year to 92nd this year, showcasing its growth and development.
