Her video, aptly titled “I went to Bath… and it felt like an Austen novel”, commences with her journey on an open-top bus to her lodging, the lavish 5-star Bath Priory hotel, where room rates commence at £195 per night.
Beaming with delight, Ruby articulates her impressions of the hotel, remarking, “The entirety of this establishment exudes history and character,” as reported by Bristol Live.
She proceeds to exhibit the opulent interiors, showcasing marble busts, warm-hued sofas, and walls adorned with oil paintings, all the while commenting, ‘‘I’m in the drawing room and it’s exquisitely decorated."
During her escapade, Ruby also meanders through Royal Victoria Park. Amidst blossoming trees, she muses to her audience, “Spring embodies the spirit of Jane Austen. It mirrors the regency era of the Georgians. Spring was unequivocally the prime season to savor Bath.”
A myriad of verdant spaces and resplendent gardens caused Bath to burst into life for Ruby. Among the highlights of her sojourn was the UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its meticulously preserved golden Bath stone.
The YouTuber conveys her enchantment with the locale, noting, “At every turn, I felt awestruck by something new - a splendid Georgian edifice beckoning.”
During her exploration, the YouTube sensation ventures to Lacock, eminent for its roles as a backdrop for illustrious films and series. She portrays the idyllic village as adorned with “exquisite cottages”.
While touring the area, she singles out a stately residence, remarking, “This edifice ahead is the dwelling where Professor Slughorn took refuge, the non-magical dwelling, whilst in hiding.” Additionally, the filming of the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice brought Lacock to the fore as “Merseyside”.
Her excursions also lead her to Lacock Abbey, where she is visibly captivated even before laying eyes on the abbey itself, expressing, “We haven’t even glimpsed the abbey yet and I’m spellbound,” noting that the sheep-dotted landscapes contributed to the “profoundly atmospheric” ambiance of the location.
Shedding light on the local history, she divulges that segments of Harry Potter were filmed within the abbey’s cloisters and revels in its “rich historical tapestry”.
The astronomy museum also captivates her, where she excitedly spots an orrery, a contraption close to her heart due to its intricate clockwork mechanism.
