Two Men Detained After Suspicious Rucksack Found at Weston-super-Mare Seafront

Two men remain in police custody following the discovery of a suspicious item in a rucksack at Weston-super-Mare’s seafront yesterday afternoon. The incident occurred on West Street near the waterfront, where patrolling officers found the bag just before 3:30 pm on November 9.

As a safety precaution, police established a cordon and closed nearby roads while awaiting the arrival of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. The EOD team carefully assessed the object and confirmed it was harmless, allowing authorities to reopen the roads by 9:10 pm.

Initial investigations resulted in the arrest of two men: a 39-year-old with no fixed address and a man in his 50s from Weston-super-Mare. Both are being held on suspicion of causing a public nuisance as inquiries continue.
