Two drivers tragically lost their lives following a four-vehicle collision on the A370 Long Ashton bypass near Yanley. The incident occurred around 7:30 pm on March 7 and prompted emergency response teams to close sections of the main road connecting Bristol to Weston-super-Mare.
The affected stretch of the A370 was closed overnight between the Colliters Way roundabout on the A4174 South Bristol Link Road and the B3130 turn-off for Nailsea at Flax Bourton. It remained closed into the morning of March 8 as Avon and Somerset Constabulary conducted a thorough investigation. The road reopened later that afternoon.
A police spokesperson confirmed that despite the prompt response from emergency personnel, both drivers involved in the crash succumbed to their injuries. “Our thoughts are with the families during this difficult time,” the spokesperson said, noting that specialist family liaison officers are providing support to the bereaved relatives.
