Tragedy struck on the A370 Long Ashton bypass yesterday evening when two drivers lost their lives in a four-vehicle collision. The accident occurred near Yanley at approximately 7:30 pm on March 7.
The crash resulted in the closure of a significant section of the A370, the main route connecting Bristol to Weston-super-Mare. The road remained closed overnight between the Colliters Way roundabout on the A4174 South Bristol Link Road and the B3130 turn-off for Nailsea at Flax Bourton. It was reopened later Sunday afternoon as Avon and Somerset Constabulary wrapped up initial investigations.
Emergency services responded promptly, but despite their efforts, the drivers of two involved cars tragically did not survive. The police have informed both families and have provided specialist family liaison officers to support them during this difficult time.
