Two Die in Fatal Lorry Collision on A358 Near Taunton

Two individuals have tragically lost their lives in a collision involving a lorry and a van on the A358 near Taunton this morning, Wednesday 30 September. The incident occurred at approximately 6:40am in Combe Florey.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that a white Mazda Bongo van collided with a Volvo lorry. Despite the rapid response and efforts of emergency services, the two occupants of the van were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have informed the families of the deceased and are providing them with specialist support during this difficult time.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this fatal collision or has information related to the incident to come forward. The crash took place near Taunton on the A358 in Combe Florey at around 6:40am involving a white Mazda Bongo van and a Volvo lorry.”

The spokesperson added: “Regrettably, both occupants of the Mazda van died at the scene. Their families have been notified and are receiving support from a dedicated officer.”

Authorities are conducting ongoing enquiries, and the A358 remains closed between the Bishops Lydeard junction at Station Road and Coggins Lane to allow for investigation work to proceed safely.
