Two Children Injured in Hit-and-Run Bike Accident in Burnham-on-Sea

In Burnham-on-Sea, two children on bicycles were struck by a silver Honda Civic in a hit-and-run incident on Rosewood Avenue between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm on Thursday, July 17. The young victims, an 11-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl, were riding separate push bikes at the time. Thankfully, their injuries were limited to grazes and bruises, and neither required hospital treatment.

Although the driver initially stopped, he quickly left the scene. Avon and Somerset Police have since interviewed a man in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing. Authorities are also eager to identify a man driving a van who stopped to check on the children’s well-being and assisted them in getting home safely.

The police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses can contact Avon and Somerset Police by calling 101 and referencing incident number 5225200537 or can provide information anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
