A devastating accident in Oak Close, Tidworth, has claimed the life of a 10-year-old boy. The child was struck by a delivery van on the evening of Wednesday, July 9.
Wiltshire Police responded to the incident at approximately 7:05 pm. Authorities confirmed that the boy died at the scene. His family has been notified and is receiving support from specially trained officers. A police spokesperson expressed, “Our thoughts are with the family at this exceedingly difficult time.”
The van driver, a man in his 40s, remained at the scene and no arrests were made. According to local reports, he was performing delivery duties when the accident occurred. Eyewitnesses described the boy as playing nearby and running into the path of the vehicle. One resident shared, “The child was playing and ran out suddenly. I don’t believe anyone is to blame. Neighbours rushed out to assist immediately after the collision.”
