A devastating incident occurred at Oddicombe Beach in Torquay, Devon, as two 24-year-old cousins, Jordan O’Rourke and Luke Keyte-Rigby, were swept off rocks by enormous waves. Despite efforts to save them, O’Rourke was pronounced dead at the scene, while Keyte-Rigby passed away later at Torbay Hospital. Witness Daniel Hoare recounted the harrowing event, stating that the waves were 20ft higher than the rocks the men were on. Rescue teams, including the RNLI, Devon Air Ambulance, coastguard search and rescue helicopter, as well as police and ambulance services, responded to the scene following Hoare’s alert. Police found empty alcohol containers and drugs at the site. A conclusion of misadventure was reached in the inquest, with the coroner mentioning the cousins’ undisclosed plans for the weekend.
