Travellers on the M5 in Somerset found themselves at a standstill when the motorway was shut in both directions between Taunton and Wellington due to a serious incident. Commuters were stuck in huge queues with congestion reaching Bridgwater. Some took to leaving their vehicles and standing along the road, uncertain of when traffic might resume. Emergency services, including police and traffic officers, were on the scene to assist and redirect drivers. The situation was resolved, and the road reopened at 12.15pm, allowing traffic to start moving again.
