Tractor Severely Damaged in Major Fire at Somerset Village

A large fire broke out in the small South Somerset village of Haselbury Plucknett on Saturday, February 28, severely damaging a tractor and lightly affecting the attached trailer. Firefighters from Yeovil and Crewkerne responded swiftly after receiving a report of the blaze shortly before 11:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, crews found the tractor and trailer engulfed in flames. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service deployed pumps from both stations along with a water carrier to battle the fire. Using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, a thermal imaging camera, and a triple extension ladder, the team worked efficiently to bring the fire under control and extinguish it.

Fire service representatives confirmed that while the tractor sustained severe damage, the trailer was only lightly affected. Measures were also taken to contain water runoff in the area, minimizing environmental impact.
