Tractor Severely Damaged in Large Fire in Somerset Village

A tractor and trailer were severely damaged after catching fire in the village of Haselbury Plucknett, South Somerset, on Saturday, February 28. Firefighters from Yeovil and Crewkerne responded promptly to the emergency, arriving shortly before 11:30 a.m. to find both vehicles “well alight.”

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received the call reporting the fire at a local farm and immediately dispatched pumps from Crewkerne and Yeovil, along with a water carrier. Upon arrival, crews confirmed the tractor was heavily engulfed in flames.

Using one breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera, and a triple extension ladder, firefighters worked vigilantly to control and extinguish the blaze. They also took measures to contain water runoff within the area to prevent environmental impact.

Despite their efforts, the tractor was severely damaged by the fire, while the trailer sustained only light damage. The quick and coordinated response prevented the fire from spreading further, minimizing potential harm to the surrounding area.
