Towering Lock Harvey Cuckson to Leave Bath Rugby for Scarlets in URC

Bath Rugby has confirmed that towering 6ft 7in lock Harvey Cuckson will depart the Gallagher Premiership club at the end of the season to join United Rugby Championship (URC) side the Scarlets.

The 22-year-old, who has represented England at U18, U19, and U20 levels, joined Bath’s academy in 2022 after the collapse of Worcester Warriors. Since then, he has made 10 appearances for Bath, including his debut in the Premiership Rugby Cup against Ampthill. Alongside his Bath Rugby commitments, Cuckson also featured in BUCS Super Rugby representing the University of Bath.

This season, Cuckson played five matches on loan with the Scarlets. Weighing 120kg and hailing from North Wales, he qualifies to play for Wales through his grandmother. His performances impressed Scarlets interim director of rugby Nigel Davies, who has offered him a permanent contract.

“Harvey made a strong impression during his time with us this season,” said Davies. “He stepped in at short notice for a tough South African tour, demonstrating composure and physicality from the start. He embraced every challenge, excelling in set-pieces, defensive work, and showed a genuine hunger to learn and develop. Bringing players with Welsh ties into our squad is vital, and Harvey’s potential and mindset make him a great fit. We’re excited to watch him grow within our setup.”

Cuckson shared his enthusiasm about the move: “I really enjoyed my time with the Scarlets earlier this season. The club has a strong identity, clear ambitions, and passionate support. Joining the Scarlets and playing rugby in Wales represents a huge opportunity for me. I’m eager to take on the challenges of the URC and get fully involved with the squad in pre-season.”
