Towering Lock Harvey Cuckson to Join Scarlets from Bath Rugby

Bath Rugby has announced that towering lock Harvey Cuckson will depart the Gallagher Premiership club at the end of this season to join the United Rugby Championship side, the Scarlets. Standing at 6ft 7in and weighing 120kg, the 22-year-old lock has demonstrated exceptional promise throughout his career.

Cuckson, who has represented England at U18, U19, and U20 levels, joined Bath’s academy in 2022 following the collapse of Worcester Warriors. Since then, he has made 10 appearances for Bath, making his debut in the Premiership Rugby Cup against Ampthill. Alongside his professional career, he also showcased his talent playing BUCS Super Rugby for the University of Bath.

This season, Cuckson spent time on loan with the Scarlets, making five appearances. Born and raised in North Wales and qualifying to play for Wales through his grandmother, he impressed the Scarlets’ interim director of rugby, Nigel Davies, enough to secure a permanent contract.

Davies commented, “Harvey made a real impression on us during his time here this season. Called in at short notice ahead of a tough South African tour, his composure and physicality were evident immediately. He embraced our demands—showing strength in the set-piece, solid defense, and most importantly, a strong desire to learn and improve. Developing players connected to Welsh rugby is central to us. Harvey has genuine potential and the right mindset to grow within our environment. We’re excited to see his continued development as part of the Scarlets.”

Expressing his enthusiasm, Cuckson said, “I really enjoyed my time with the Scarlets earlier this season. It’s a club with a clear identity, strong ambition, and passionate support. Being able to play my rugby in Wales with the Scarlets is a fantastic opportunity. I’m looking forward to the challenge of the URC and fully committing to the squad ahead of pre-season.”
