Three Men Sentenced for Somerset Burglary Spree

Three men have been sentenced for their roles in a series of burglaries targeting car keys across Somerset.

Dylan Morgan, aged 23, Thomas Maguire, 19, and George Ruja, 19, appeared at Taunton Crown Court on Friday, 14 August. The trio were involved in burglaries committed between 16 March and 5 May in locations including Burnham-on-Sea, Weston-super-Mare and Glastonbury.

Morgan, of Dickenson Road, Weston-super-Mare, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary as well as driving while disqualified. He received a sentence of 45 months, with 18 months to be served in custody and the remainder on licence. Additionally, he has been banned from driving for four and a half years.

Maguire, from Bristol Road, Tarnock, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary and was sentenced to 30 months, with nine months custodial and the balance on licence.

Ruja, of Church Street, Highbridge, also admitted conspiracy to commit burglary and was given a 30-month sentence, serving 12 months in prison and the remainder on licence.

Neighbourhood Inspector Charmaine Dyne commented on the outcome, expressing satisfaction with the convictions and emphasising the police’s commitment to tackling criminal activity decisively. She highlighted the significant distress burglary causes victims and confirmed that specialist support services have been offered to those affected.

Inspector Dyne urged local residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to help authorities assess and address the extent of such crimes effectively.
