Detectives investigating a suspected arson in Glastonbury have arrested a third individual linked to the fire that destroyed several caravans and severely damaged a nearby Tesco superstore.
The fire broke out around 8:15 pm on Saturday, June 13, on Beckery New Road, causing extensive damage to three caravans and leaving the Tesco building badly scorched. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Earlier arrests included a man in his 40s and a woman in her 20s, both apprehended on Sunday, June 14. On Thursday, June 18, Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the detention of a third suspect – a man in his twenties – on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in police custody.

A police spokesperson stated, “This follows the fire on Beckery New Road, which damaged three caravans and the adjacent building. The investigation is ongoing.”
The two individuals first arrested have since been released on conditional police bail. On June 19, authorities announced the third suspect had also been released with no further action taken.
