The event united local business owners, stakeholders, and media to celebrate Exmoor’s breathtaking landscapes and growing reputation as a tourist destination.

Viewers were immersed in the film’s stunning portrayal of Exmoor, which follows the Winns’ inspiring trek through personal hardship, showcasing the healing power of nature and the scenic allure of the South West Coast Path.

Emma Thomasson, chief executive of Visit Exmoor, remarked: “This beautifully crafted film captures the essence of Exmoor’s landscapes and spirit. The screening brought together our community and partners, demonstrating how storytelling and film deepen connections to place and inspire year-round visitors.”

Craig Goodwin, resort director at Butlin’s Minehead, added: “We’re proud to sponsor this event. As a key community player and catalyst for tourism and employment, it’s wonderful to see the buzz around Minehead. The Salt Path inspires people to explore Exmoor, and our day passes offer families a perfect way to extend their adventure.”

Screen Somerset, Somerset Council’s film office, also endorsed the initiative, promoting the county as a premier filming location.

Councillor Mike Rigby, lead member for economic development, planning, and assets, said: “Screen tourism brings significant benefits. The Salt Path positions our landscape as a star in its own right, presenting valuable opportunities for local businesses. We’re committed to making Somerset more film-friendly through Screen Somerset.”

The evening featured a community ticket giveaway organized by Visit Exmoor, allowing residents to attend via a competition, while local producers like Miles Tea and Exmoor Distillery shared samples during networking, offering guests a tangible taste of the region.

As Exmoor attracts growing attention from filmmakers and tourists, this event marks an important milestone in establishing the area as a premier destination for film tourism.
