Once a bustling hub for nightlife, Taunton was home to several beloved nightclubs that saw revellers through the years. Sadly, many of these vibrant venues have now disappeared, leaving behind only memories and stories of wild nights and good times. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane and revisit some of the iconic nightclubs that defined Taunton’s nightlife scene.
Kingston’s, a former cinema turned nightclub, was a notorious spot known for its lively atmosphere and central location. Despite its popularity, the venue faced issues with noise complaints, eventually leading to its closure and transformation into a snooker club, only to be demolished later for residential development.
Henry’s, a long-standing pub and music venue, was a favorite among locals, offering live music and a warm, inviting ambiance. However, a decline in foot traffic on the High Street led to its closure, and the space remains unoccupied to this day.

The Live Room, which opened with much anticipation, shut its doors just months after its grand opening, leaving behind a void that was later filled by a rebranded establishment, 61 Bar and Venue.
Night Owl’s unique allure, set against the backdrop of Creech Castle, attracted party-goers from near and far. However, changing trends and preferences eventually led to the club’s closure, and the site was repurposed into an animal medical center.
These are just a few examples of the many vibrant nightclubs that once graced Taunton with their presence, each leaving an indelible mark on the town’s nightlife history.
