Ten Charities Receive £5,000 from Portishead’s bClear Communications

bClear Communications, a West Country communications agency based in Portishead, has awarded a total of £5,000 in grants to ten charities across the South West. Each organisation received £500 to support a wide range of essential services, from dementia research and bereavement support to emergency services and mental health initiatives.

This funding comes through bClear’s Charity Fund, an annual program launched in 2021 as part of the company’s commitment to giving back. The agency pledges 5% of its annual profits to charitable causes, aiming to help organisations recover from the pandemic’s impacts. Now in its third year, the fund has drawn a record number of applications this cycle.

The ten recipients include Bibic, Harvey Hext Trust, Ablaze, WhiteOak Way Schools Association, Edengate, Great Western Air Ambulance, Alive Activities Ltd, Suicide Prevention UK, Radiotherapy UK, and BRACE.

BRACE will use its £500 grant to host ‘Let’s Talk Dementia,’ a public event featuring expert talks, workshops, and access to support services. The Harvey Hext Trust, supporting families coping with child loss, plans to fund memory boxes, support packs, and family activities.

Radiotherapy UK, which advocates for improved access to cancer treatments, noted that radiotherapy is the second most effective cancer treatment but only receives 5% of the UK’s cancer treatment budget. The charity highlighted the challenges posed by COVID-19 on timely cancer care and will use its grant to enhance patient engagement and information accessibility.

In addition, bClear staff are participating in Radiotherapy UK’s Miles4Radiotherapy challenge, raising funds by walking, running, swimming, and cycling throughout the year.

Debbie Staveley, founder and CEO of bClear Communications, said: “Supporting these remarkable charities that truly make a difference means a lot to us. Each £500 grant will help them expand their impact, reach more people, and continue providing crucial support. Giving back has always been a central part of who we are.”

Marking its 20th anniversary this year, bClear stresses that community support has been integral to its identity since its inception.

Applications for the 2026 bClear Charity Fund will open early next year, with details to be shared via the company’s social media channels.
