Dorset Council has announced a temporary closure of Park Grove in Stalbridge to facilitate essential carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works. The closure is scheduled to begin on 18 September 2026 and is expected to conclude by 21 September 2026. However, the road will only be closed during times when appropriate signage is in place.
During this period, a clearway and parking suspension will be enforced along the section of Park Grove undergoing the works. These measures have been introduced to ensure health and safety standards are maintained, providing secure working areas for construction crews.
The closure will cover approximately 540 metres of Park Grove, between Grove Lane and Barrow Hill in Stalbridge, near postcode areas DT10 2RA and DT9 4RZ. Advance warning signs will be displayed two weeks prior to the closure to inform residents and motorists of exact timings.

Drivers affected by the closure will need to follow on-site traffic management and local signing. For access to Holway and Hermitage Road, Dorset Council has arranged a locally signed diversion route to assist traffic flow.
Parking on the affected stretch will not be permitted during the closure, and any vehicles found parked in violation of the restrictions may be removed by authorities. Residents, school users, and businesses who may be impacted by the closure are encouraged to contact Dorset Highways at 01305 228100 to discuss specific access arrangements during the works.
Dorset Council emphasises that these closures are necessary to minimise risks to road users and workers by creating a safe environment during resurfacing activities.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow extra travelling time, observe on-site signage carefully, and comply with any signed diversion routes throughout the maintenance period.
For further information regarding the closure or traffic orders, contact Dorset Council’s Traffic Team on 01305 221020. Detailed updates and notices are also available through Dorset Council’s official roadworks information channels.
