A young woman in her late teens was raped in the rural Rooksbridge area of North Somerset shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday, March 16.

Police have conducted CCTV reviews, house-to-house inquiries, and collected witness statements as they pursue a thorough investigation. Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have seen a woman walking alone in rural North Somerset on the night in question to come forward — emphasizing that even seemingly minor information could prove vital.

In particular, officers want to connect with a woman wearing a lanyard who was accompanied by a small child and was reportedly asked for directions to Bridgwater by another woman. Drivers who were in the Rooksbridge, Loxton, Sevier Road, or Axbridge areas between 6 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on March 16, and who may have dashcam footage or relevant observations, are also urged to contact the police.

Neighbourhoods’ Inspector Charmaine Dyne stated: “A thorough investigation is underway, and we remain in contact with the victim, who has been offered access to specialist support services. We want to hear from anyone with dashcam footage or any information no matter how small or trivial it may seem. Violence against women and girls will never be tolerated, and any victim of sexual offences will be heard, believed, and supported.”

Those with information are asked to call 101, quoting reference number 5226072295, or to complete an online appeals form. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or via their online form. Contacting Crimestoppers is completely confidential with no personal details recorded or traced.
