Britain’s four-man bobsleigh team concluded their campaign at the Cortina Sliding Centre with a seventh-place finish, falling short of expectations as Germany dominated the event with a one-two finish.
The team, led by pilot Brad Hall alongside Taylor Lawrence, Leon Greenwood, and Greg Cackett, began the final day ranked seventh, trailing the leaders by 0.82 seconds after two runs on Saturday. Despite their efforts in the last two runs on Sunday, they were unable to improve their standing, ultimately finishing 1.55 seconds behind the gold medalists.
Germany’s Johannes Lochner captured the top spot, with compatriot Francesco Friedrich securing the silver medal. Switzerland, guided by Michael Vogt, took home the bronze.

Reflecting on the result, Brad Hall commented, “It’s pretty brutal to be honest. We expect much better from ourselves, and to finish an Olympic cycle at the Games in seventh place is far below what we expect. We’re multiple world championship medallists and European champions; we shouldn’t be at this level. But that’s just the way it happens sometimes.”
Hall acknowledged the high stakes of Olympic competition: “Everyone ups their game for an Olympic Games, and we just didn’t find the fastest way down the track. We fought to the bitter end and gave it our best. We can leave here proud of that effort.”
Though the outcome was disappointing, the team’s determination and resilience remain clear as they look ahead to future challenges.
