Team GB’s four-man bobsleigh squad concluded their Olympic campaign at the Cortina Sliding Centre with a seventh-place finish, well below their anticipated podium hopes. Piloted by Brad Hall, alongside Taylor Lawrence, Leon Greenwood, and Greg Cackett, the British team started the day positioned seventh after their initial two runs on Saturday, trailing the leaders by 0.82 seconds.
Despite their efforts in the final two runs on Sunday, the team was unable to improve their standing, ultimately finishing 1.55 seconds behind the gold medal-winning German sled led by Johannes Lochner. Russia’s Francesco Friedrich secured the silver medal for Germany, while Switzerland’s Michael Vogt and his team claimed bronze.
Reflecting on the outcome, Brad Hall remarked, “It’s pretty brutal to be honest. We expect much better from ourselves, and to finish an Olympic cycle at the Games in seventh place is far below what we expect. We’re multiple world championship medallists and European champions; we shouldn’t be at this level. But that’s just the way it happens sometimes. This is sport. Everyone steps up their game for an Olympic Games, and we just didn’t find the fastest way down the track. We fought to the bitter end and gave it our best. We can leave here being proud of that.”
