Swimmers affiliated with the University of Bath capped off the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games with a remarkable tally of four medals. The standout performance on the final night of competition at the Tollcross International Centre came courtesy of Jacob Peters, who played a key role in Team England securing the silver medal in the men’s 4x100m medley relay.
Peters, representing the Aquatics GB Bath Performance Centre, contributed significantly in the morning heats with a swift 52.64 split in the butterfly leg. In the evening final, England finished as runners-up to Australia, marking an impressive achievement for the team.
This silver represents Peters' third consecutive Commonwealth Games medal in the medley relay, underscoring his consistent high-level performance. He also competed in the 50m butterfly final, finishing sixth with a time of 23.46, adding to an already busy competition schedule.

Computer Science student Jack Skerry also demonstrated strong form, narrowly missing out on a medal by finishing fourth in the 100m backstroke with a time of 53.43 seconds. This was Skerry’s second fourth-place finish of the week, mirroring his result in the 50m backstroke final. His training partners, Matthew Ward and Cam Brooker, finished sixth and seventh respectively, clocking 53.62 and 53.73 seconds.
Brooker had earlier contributed to Team England’s success by winning two silver medals in the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays. Additionally, Bill Whiteley Sporting Scholar Matthew Ward anchored Team Scotland’s mixed 4x100m medley relay to a bronze medal and also swam in the men’s medley final, where Scotland narrowly missed out on the podium.
On the netball courts, the penultimate pool matches saw Trendell Sporting Scholar Jayda Pechova and Bath alumna Imogen Allison help England to a commanding 94-32 victory over Tonga. England now faces a crucial Pool A match against South Africa on Thursday at 9pm, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Team Bath’s Poppy Tydeman and Lowri Windsor experienced intense competition against reigning world champions New Zealand as Wales put in a valiant effort in a 65-37 defeat. Wales will finish their Pool B campaign against Jamaica on Thursday at 7pm.
