Team Bath Swimmers Selected for England’s 2026 Commonwealth Games Squad

Three promising swimmers from the University of Bath—Cameron Brooker, Jack Skerry, and Jacob Peters—have been officially named to England’s 2026 Commonwealth Games swimming squad, marking a proud moment for the university and the Aquatics GB Bath Performance Centre.

They will compete in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23rd to August 2nd. Brooker and Skerry, both first-time Commonwealth Games athletes, specialize in backstroke and balance their rigorous training schedules with academic pursuits in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, respectively. Both benefit from prestigious sporting scholarships—Brooker supported by the Ivor Powell Scholarship and Skerry by the US Foundation.

Jacob Peters, a butterfly specialist, returns for his second Commonwealth Games after helping Team England secure gold in the men’s 4x100m medley relay at Birmingham 2022. The trio is coached by David McNulty alongside Calum Jarvis, an accomplished swimmer who earned a 200m freestyle bronze for Wales at the 2014 Glasgow Games and now serves as a Team England coach.

Joining them in the squad is former Bath sporting scholar Tom Dean, who shone at Birmingham 2022 by winning seven medals, becoming England’s most decorated athlete in a single Commonwealth Games. Additionally, Peters and Skerry will represent Aquatics GB at this summer’s European Championships in Paris.

Team England’s Chef de Mission, Jonathon Riall, expressed enthusiasm about the squad: “It’s brilliant to have such strong swimming teams for Glasgow 2026, blending established champions with exciting new talent ready to make their mark.”

Richard Blackshaw, Swim England Head of Sport and Team Leader for swimming and para swimming, highlighted the squad’s inclusivity: “This team brings together para and Olympic pathway athletes as one united group, reflecting the very best of shared ambition and inclusivity.”

Notable names such as three-time Olympic champions Tom Dean and James Guy, as well as Olympic champion Freya Anderson, who previously trained at Bath, are also part of the squad, now training elsewhere.

As the Games approach, Team England’s swimmers are gearing up for a summer of intense competition at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow from July 24th to 29th, showcasing their skills on the Commonwealth stage.
