Taunton’s Conquest Centre Expands Services to Meet Growing Demand for Therapeutic Support

Taunton’s Conquest Centre, a specialist therapy facility, has expanded its services significantly in response to a rising demand for supportive care. Originally founded as a Riding for the Disabled centre, Conquest has evolved into an alternative provision that delivers life-changing therapeutic support to children, young people, and adults.

The centre caters to individuals with complex needs—including neurodivergence, trauma-related mental health challenges, anxiety, chronic stress, and learning differences—offering tailored support without requiring formal diagnoses. Through a blend of relational and nature-based therapies, Conquest helps clients build confidence, regulate emotions, and foster positive relationships within a calm, inclusive, and well-resourced environment.

Lotta von der Heyde, Engagement and Development Manager at Conquest Centre, stated: “We’ve grown far beyond our origins in Riding for the Disabled. Today, we support a diverse range of clients experiencing trauma, neurodivergence, and emotional distress through animal-assisted therapy, outdoor activities, and sensory-based learning.”

In response to increased referrals from local schools and families, Conquest has recently enhanced its capabilities by acquiring two specially adapted vehicles. These allow staff to safely transport clients, enabling access to everyday environments beyond the centre—such as shops and community spaces—to build essential life skills and expand therapeutic experiences.

Additionally, Conquest has updated its brand identity and launched a new website to better showcase the comprehensive range of services it now offers—a proud testament to its status as a local success story.
