St Margaret’s Hospice is calling on the community to join its brand-new Fireworks Night this November as volunteers. This exciting event promises a dazzling, music-synchronised fireworks display at Taunton Racecourse on Saturday, November 8, while raising crucial funds to support patients and families across Somerset.
In partnership with award-winning pyrotechnics company Sonic Fireworks, the hospice is staging this highlight as part of its year-long 45th anniversary celebrations. Organisers anticipate around 3,000 visitors will attend this unforgettable evening.
Merle Harrison-Crott, events manager at St Margaret’s Hospice, said: “We need volunteers to help make the night a success—from greeting guests and selling merchandise to collecting donations. Every role is essential in helping us raise funds for people living with life-limiting illnesses across Somerset.”

Volunteer roles available include car park marshals, welcome and safety stewards, ticket and merchandise sellers, and bucket collectors. Volunteers will be rewarded with a complimentary ticket to the fireworks display, a food and drink voucher, and free parking.
Each year, St Margaret’s Hospice provides specialist care and support to around 5,000 patients and their families throughout the county, offering free services at home and in their Taunton in-patient unit. Their support also includes round-the-clock telephone advice, counselling, physiotherapy, and assistance with financial or housing challenges.
By volunteering at the Fireworks Night, individuals will play a vital part in sustaining this essential care and support within the community.
Those interested can sign up via the St Margaret’s Hospice website or by emailing [email protected].
Funds raised from the event will directly contribute to the hospice’s ongoing mission to deliver compassionate care for those who need it most.
