Taunton Vintage Store Closes but Leaves Lasting Community Spirit

After three heartfelt years of serving the Taunton community, Lesley White, owner of the independent vintage and antique store Vintiques, has announced the closure of her beloved shop this September. The Somerset-based store, opened in 2022, specialized in unique vintage pieces ranging from the 1980s to antique treasures dating back to the 1920s, including a century-old clock.

In a poignant Facebook post, Lesley shared her gratitude with loyal customers who made her dream possible: “I’m heartbroken to share with you all that I will be closing Vintiques doors in September. Thank you to every single one of you who has supported me over these last 3 years. Your loyalty and custom have meant the world to me.”

Despite the store’s closing, Lesley’s connection to Bath Place remains strong, fueled by a vibrant community network that sprouted around her shop. What started as a weekly gathering known as the Chatty Group has blossomed into a nightly series of meet-ups and activities, fostering friendships and deepening connections. The Coffee Cake and Chat at Bath Place group now boasts over 500 interested members, all united by a shared sense of community.

Lesley reflected on the impact of these gatherings, noting that conversations with visitors evolved from casual interactions to meaningful exchanges as stories and experiences were shared. The sense of belonging cultivated through these meet-ups has been a bright spot amid the bittersweet farewell to her store.

As the final weeks approach, Lesley is organizing a closing down sale to find new homes for the remaining vintage gems. She encourages locals to visit, whether to snag a treasured item or simply to say goodbye. “If there’s anything special that you’ve been keeping your eye on, get it before it’s gone for good,” she advises. “Or I’d love it if you just simply pop in over the next few weeks and say goodbye! Warning in advance, I may shed a few tears!”

With heartfelt thanks, Lesley bids farewell to her customers and emphasizes that while Vintiques may be closing, the spirit of community it helped build will continue to thrive in Bath Place.
