Taunton Town Football Club Responds to Former CEO’s Criminal Charges

Taunton Town Football Club has released a statement following the revelation that their former CEO, Karl Lindsay, is among 13 men charged in a high-profile sex offences case. Lindsay, who resigned from his role at the non-league club last year, faces trial this September in connection to an alleged two-decade-long crime involving drug-facilitated sexual abuse.

The 55-year-old from Taunton is charged with conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, and conspiracy to administer a substance with intent. He has pleaded not guilty to all allegations.

While the club did not directly name Lindsay in their statement, they confirmed the individual involved resigned last year and currently has no association with Taunton Town. Emphasizing their non-involvement, the club stated they will make no further comments as the matter is subject to active legal proceedings.

Taunton Town is steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all, adhering strictly to FA safeguarding policies. We uphold the highest standards of conduct among all members.”

Separately, the case involves a man in his 60s from Stockport, who has admitted to multiple counts of rape, sexual assault, and sharing intimate material but denies drugging his wife. The trial encompasses numerous charges spanning 20 years, with Lindsay among those accused of conspiring in the offences.

The trial date is set for September, as investigations continue into this complex and disturbing case.
