Park and Ride services operating from Taunton’s Silk Mills site will follow a new temporary route to facilitate essential gas main renewal works. Starting next week, buses will avoid the usual Mountway Road and Silk Mills Road junction due to scheduled closures from July 28 to August 16.
Wales and West Utilities is conducting a major upgrade of gas mains in the Bishops Hull and Silk Mills areas. Somerset Council supports this crucial infrastructure project and has coordinated adjustments to public transport to minimize disruption.
During the closure, buses will bypass the affected junction, traveling instead via Staplegrove Road and Tangier Way. Services will not stop until reaching Musgrove Park Hospital, where they will resume their standard route through the town center and on to the Gateway Park and Ride site. Both Silk Mills and Taunton Gateway services will be impacted.
