Eastment had been accused of smuggling methamphetamine valued at approximately £200,000 when he was arrested at Santiago’s airport last May.
His case took a dramatic turn after nearly 12 months in the harsh conditions of Santiago 1 Penitentiary. Eastment consistently denied knowingly carrying drugs, maintaining he was “tricked” by scammers who convinced him he had won a prize and needed to travel abroad.
