The Exmoor Search and Rescue Team was alerted by the South West Ambulance Service Trust to provide assistance to the injured walker. Nine rescuers, including two skilled medical technicians, responded to the call as evening approached. The team located the man approximately one kilometre from the nearest road, where he was unable to put weight on his injured leg.
