The fire broke out at the former Newell House School on Cornhill, near the A30, at 5:58 pm on Sunday, April 26. The blaze caused the roof to collapse and inflicted significant damage to this Grade II listed structure. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Sherborne Town Council has urged Dorset Council to take immediate and decisive measures, including enforcement actions or possibly compulsory purchase of the property.
