Jason Prior, 41, was convicted of assault by beating following an incident on Bythesea Road on the evening of Tuesday, June 2. Despite denying the charge, he was sentenced to 23 weeks in custody, nearing the maximum sentence for this offence. In addition to the assault conviction, Prior was found guilty of possession of cannabis and received a concurrent three-week prison sentence.
