Arthur O’Brien, 33, from Ilminster Avenue, Knowle, Bristol, has been named and charged following a serious assault that occurred on Wincanton High Street. O’Brien appeared at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 2, facing charges of causing grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.
The incident took place on the morning of Sunday, November 30, and the victim, a man in his 20s, remains hospitalized. Authorities describe his injuries as life-changing but not life-threatening.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed O’Brien’s court appearance and the nature of the charges. The court has remanded him in custody, with his next hearing scheduled for Friday, January 9, at North Somerset Courthouse.
