Stunning UK City Sweeps the Board at Britain in Bloom Awards

Bath has once again demonstrated its green credentials by securing top honours at this year’s Britain in Bloom South West competition. The city collected a series of gold awards and prestigious commendations, highlighting its exceptional commitment to horticultural excellence and community involvement.

The awards ceremony, held recently in Torquay, celebrated Bath’s achievement as the winner of the South West Tourism Cup category alongside a coveted Gold award. Additionally, Bath was shortlisted for both the Outstanding Effort and Best Portfolio categories, underscoring the city’s comprehensive approach to beautification.

Bath and North East Somerset Council’s parks department earned the Abbiss Cup for best municipal planting, thanks in large part to the eye-catching Jane Austen-themed 3D floral display showcased in Parade Gardens.

In the Business and Leisure category, Milsom Place and SouthGate Shopping Centre were both awarded Gold, with SouthGate also achieving third place for Best Business Floral Displays.

Bath City Farm was celebrated with the Best Inclusive Gardening Award and earned nominations for the Council for the Protection of Rural England Award and Best Use of Native Planting. The farm impressively secured second place in the South West’s “It’s Your Neighbourhood” scheme.

Environmental and educational projects also received recognition. Lyncombe Hill Fields was nominated for Best Area of Nature Preservation, Bath Organic Group for Best Community Initiative, and Oldfield Park Junior School for Best School.

Barry Cruse MBE, honorary president of Bath in Bloom, remarked, “We are extremely proud of the city’s success, which reflects the dedication of so many individuals and organisations working together to make Bath beautiful.”
