A coach transporting 29 schoolchildren from the Bristol area was involved in an accident on the A36 in Hampshire on Thursday morning. The vehicle left the southbound carriageway and ended up in a ditch between the Ower roundabout and junction 2 of the M27.
Fortunately, none of the children sustained injuries. However, one of the four teachers on board suffered a minor leg injury, and the coach driver also sustained minor injuries. Emergency services attended the scene promptly to treat those affected and manage the recovery of the coach.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed that the school and parents have been informed about the incident. The road remains closed as recovery operations continue, with drivers advised to avoid the area to minimize delays.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. National Highways anticipate the closure will be lifted by mid-afternoon, after the coach has been safely removed.
The police spokesperson stated: “We are currently dealing with a single vehicle collision involving a school coach, which left the carriageway and went into a ditch. We are grateful that all the children are safe, and emergency services are working to clear the scene. Motorists are urged to find alternative routes until the road reopens.”
